A brief that fits on a postcard
The best commissions I have had started with a few lines, not a deck.

I get two kinds of brief. One is a forty-page document with mood boards from other photographers. The other is a few sentences about a place and what it should feel like to arrive there.
The second kind always produces better work. It leaves room for the place to show me something, and it keeps the client's attention on their own guests rather than on someone else's pictures.
What I ask for
Where it is, when we can go, who the pictures are for and where they will be seen. If you can add the hour of the day your guests remember most, even better. Everything else we can work out on a call.
That is also why the contact form on this site is short. Send me the postcard version, and I will reply with questions.
